WW1 book from Amazon
My internet searches suggest that Max Hastings' Catastrophe: Europe Goes to War 1914" provides a comprehensive account of what happened in the first five months of the Great War (from July to December 1914), covering both the western and eastern fronts. I have not started reading this yet but look forward to seeing how this compares to Barbara Tuchman's Guns of August. Bought this used from Amazon but next time I will probably just try finding it in Hong Kong given its weight (and thus pricey shipping cost)
