This new 2018 Paperwhite is the 4th generation of the Paperwhite version of Amazon’s Kindle. This Kindle is lighter and thinner than the last generation. If you already have the most recent Paperwhite then there’s not a huge difference and upgrading may not be worth. Added waterproofing and audible
